Chocolat!

We are enjoying a few days here at the bungalow and the shop windows of every patisserie and chocolatier are filled with the most amazing displays of chocolate eggs and bells - just too many to resist!

Happy New Year - we had a lovely cycle ride to Saujon on a clear and sunny day for a long lazy lunch in our usual restaurant. There are pot bellies back at the dog kennel farm.

Seudre Estuary

We have been down to the estuary again this evening at a lower tide and no less than 29 avocets were feeding there. We need Suzanne to tell us what else we saw!! A beautiful evening as the sun was going down.

Garden Update

The hedge is looking ok - some plants still doing better than others but on the whole not too bad.  The Rose Tremière at the front is also doing well and there are two new small ones.  It is a pleasing 10 degrees here this morning.

The joie de vivre of christmas is everywhere - see the christmas tree outside Saujon market. Very quiet at St Georges but lovely on the seafront.

New Year 2010-2011

We have been out and about today down to the Seudre Estuary - unfortunately the tide was in so not too much bird life to see but coming in to Mornac sur Seudre  we did see the usual herons (grey) an egret or two a glimpse of the kingfisher and a cormorant sat on a chimney stack.  Mornac is pretty whatever time of year you go.  Oyster production in full flow with the 'claires' full and water pumping.  Moules mariniere for tea!
